Roosevelt, Ut.- On 9/5/23, at around midnight, Officer Harrison received a report of a truck that had hit a fence or a power pole. The complainant reported that the driver was trying to get the truck unstuck and leave.

Officer Harrison arrived and found the truck in gear, but the driver was gone. Only one person occupied the truck. All the seats were covered with items, including beer.

The driver's door and armrest had blood from what appeared to be an arm or elbow scrap. A check on the vehicle was conducted and found that it was registered to 34-year-old Chase Andrew Griffin. The Officer contacted family, and they advised that Chase was not at home.

Officer Harrison checked around the accident area, and Chase was located trying to hide in some bushes and jump a fence. Chase was placed in handcuffs, and he stated to have very little to drink, but the Officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.

Chase had a blood scrap on his right arm, matching the location of the blood on his truck. Field tests were conducted on Chase, and he was positive for nystagmus in both eyes due to him swaying and having a hard time following instructions for the rest of the tests were not conducted.

Chase was found about a block from his truck in a field, trying to hide and in the direction the caller stated the driver went and matched the description given by the caller.

Chase stated at the hospital that he had not been drinking after the accident. He was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
