On Sunday, Officer Maughan was called on a report of a kidnapping that just occurred. The petrified mother stated that 29-year-old Kayden Ray Jensen took her 10-month-old son.

While officers were on scene, they were informed that assisting officers had found Kayden at his mother's, 48-year-old Carley Amber Yates, residence in Naples, Utah, with the baby, who is not the biological father.

It was also reported that Kayden and Carley had fled the scene with the 10-month-old baby in a black Chevy truck.

The mother stated that Kayden, along with his mother, grabbed the baby after an argument between her and Kayden. While she was telling the officer about the event that had taken place, she was hyperventilating and crying.

She went on to say she tried to take her baby back from Kayden, but Carley got back to their truck and left.

Officer Maughan noticed a THC vape pen on the kitchen table, and the complainant said it belonged to Kayden. The complainant stated that she had even tried to get into the vehicle as the window was partially down but was unsuccessful.

Officer Maughan went to interview Kayden and his mother, Carley and informed them of their Miranda Rights, which they both understood.

Kayden stated that he and his mother were trying to get the baby out of a bad situation, which he attributed to him and the complainant getting into a verbal argument. He said that he and Carley planned on taking the baby, so he put the baby's car seat in his truck.

Kayden told the officer that the complainant had physically fought him as they were taking the child outside to his truck. The officer asked if he uses marijuana, and he confirmed that he uses THC pens. Carley attributed the fight to the complainant fearing that Kayden was leaving.

Officer Maughan interviewed Carley and asked her about the incident. Carley stated that the complainant had initially given her permission to take the baby, but after the argument, the complainant told Carley she couldn’t take him anymore.

Carley admitted to having physical custody of the baby during the altercation and stated that the complainant had been fighting Kayden while they were taking the baby.

Kayden and Carley were arrested and taken to the Uintah County Jail, where they are being held without bail.

Carley Yates and her son Kayden Jensen are being charged with child kidnapping, a 1st degree felony.
