While on a call for suspicious activity, Roosevelt Police Officers encountered a female at the Roosevelt Maverick.
It came to the officer's attention while speaking with the victim that there was a possible domestic dispute.
Officer Bellon and Officer Adams started to interview the victim, who stated that she and 20-year-old Russten E. Young had been driving around in a gray Volkswagen and began to argue.
While driving through the drive-thru at Burger King, Russten became aggressive and started to push the victim. During this argument, the victim said Russten hit her across the face.
Officer Bellon saw several small contusions on her face, one on the center of her forehead and one on the right side of her head.
During the altercation, Russten began to kick the windshield of the victim's car and broke the windshield.
The victim was asked if there were any past instances of abuse, and she stated that there had been several. She was asked if he has controlling behavior, and the victim stated that he was controlling and violent in the past.
After the interview, the victim's advocate completed a lethality assessment. Russten was later contacted by phone and asked to come to the Roosevelt City Police Department.
Russten arrived at the Police Department in a gray Volkswagen with a broken windshield. When asked if he had been involved with the victim earlier in the day, he stated that they had had an argument in the vehicle at Burger King and Maverick.
Russten Young was placed under arrest for Assault domestic violence, and criminal mischief- Loss<$500 domestic violence, and was transported to the Duchesne County Jail.
According to the affidavit Russten E. Young was later released.
