Vernal City Police were dispatched to Davis Food and Drug at 575 West Main Street regarding a suspicious person. It was reported a male tried to enter another person’s vehicle.
The complainant stated while he was in his vehicle a weird looking older male, approximately 5'8" tall, with a beard, blue eyes, and wearing a jacket, approached his vehicle.
He said the male tried to open his car door and believed the man was going to pull him out of his car. The complainant stated he drove off, and the male held onto his car while he drove away and chased after the complainant a short distance.
The complainant told the police his vehicle was parked in the East parking lot near the Northeast corner of the store. A surveillance camera was above the complainant's vehicle, and he said he drove out of the parking lot to 100 South and then southbound on 500 West.
While an officer was speaking with the complainant, he observed a male he knew as 56-year-old Donald Samuel Wade from previous involvements.
Donald was riding a white cruiser-style bike and wearing blue jeans, a green hoodie, and a ball cap. He rode his bike into the parking lot of Davis Food and Drug. The officer pointed to Donald and asked the complainant if that was the male, and he stated that it was.
The police called out to Donald, ordering him to stop, announcing, "Police Department.” Donald continued to ride away from the police as they gave chase on foot. Donald continued to ride westbound across the parking lot of Davis Food and Drug, then South on 600 West.
Several officers from Vernal City, Naples City, and Uintah County searched for Donald in the surrounding area and neighborhoods on this day, but he was not found.
On 2/5/25, a Vernal City Officer located Donald Wade and took him into custody. He was booked into the Uintah County Jail and charged with failing to stop at the command of law enforcement.
Donald Samuel Wade may post bail in the amount of $2,500.00.
