Vernal, Ut.-On 4/29/23, Officer O'Donnal responded to a two-vehicle accident involving a rollover at the intersection of 1000 West Hwy 40.
Prior to this accident, an individual called central dispatch at 9:05 am regarding a reckless driver stating a silver Fiat was driving at a high rate of speed and driving into oncoming traffic.
At 9:11, Uintah County Sheriff's Deputies reported an accident involving the silver Fiat.
Officer O'Donnal spoke with the driver of the Fiat, 25-year-old Kevin Bradley Murray, who stated he was "driving around town and having fun."
Kevin stated he estimated his speeds to be around 100 to 110 mph. Kevin admitted to an EMT on scene that he had smoked marijuana earlier that morning.
Officer O'Donnal spoke with several witnesses on scene of the accident who stated Kevin was traveling at a high rate of speed going East on Hwy 40, driving in the right-hand turning lane, and ran the red light resulting in a collision between him and another vehicle.
The victim was transported to the local hospital with bodily injury.
Kevin was also transported to the local hospital for injuries, where Officer O'Donnal met and spoke to him about the incident. Kevin said he woke up around 6:00 am and smoked marijuana around 7:00 am.
Kevin was arrested for admitting to consuming marijuana prior to operating a vehicle, reckless driving, operating a vehicle with no insurance, and operating a vehicle negligently.
