At 8:36 am, police were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision on SR-45 near milepost 38. The caller stated the vehicle went through his fence, and is high-centered in his field, and the driver is acting weird.
When police arrived on scene, they saw a van about 200-300 feet off the road in the middle of a field, high and centered, and a damaged portion of a barbed wire fence.
The driver admitted to having methamphetamine on him, and the officers seized the contraband. There were two glass pipes, a black container, and a butane torch. The glass pipes had a white residue substance on them. The black container had a white, crystal-like substance recognized as methamphetamine.
The driver identified himself as the owner of the vehicle, 39-year-old Jeremiah Andrew Gordon.
Gordon stated he was driving home when he dozed off and ended up in the field. While the deputy spoke with Jeremiah, he observed him fidget uncontrollably while sitting down. His speech was extremely fast, and he would fumble over his words.
The officer asked Jeremiah when the last time he used meth, and he stated around 3:00 am at the Duchesne rest stop. He stated after he smoked, he started driving, stopped at Lowes, and continued driving home. He stated he didn't smoke after he crashed.
At the hospital, Jeremiah consented to the blood draw and was charged with DUI. He didn't have insurance on his vehicle because his insurance company had dropped him earlier that week.
A criminal history check showed Jeremiah was convicted of DUI in March of 2024. He had possession of a controlled substance charge that was dismissed in March of 2024.
