Vernal, Ut.- On 3/19/23, at around 2 pm, Deputy Jensen was working in the booking area of the Uintah County Jail when Deputies received a call from an outside party stating an inmate housed in Pod L informed them there could potentially be drugs in the section where he was housed.
The outside party informed the Deputies that their friend stated the person in possession of the drugs was housed on bunk 8 of Pod L. That inmate is identified as 36-year-old Keith Allen Wanserske.
After receiving this information, several Deputies initiated a shakedown of Pod L around 2:30 pm.
During the shakedown, the Deputies searched bunk 8 and discovered a small white crystal-like substance on inmate Wanserske's bunk underneath his mattress. They took the substance to be tested.
Later the crystal-like substance was tested, and it tested positive for methamphetamine.
The Deputies attempted to interview Inmate Wanserske, and he stated he would not like to continue with the interview, so the interview was terminated.
Keith Allen Wanserske was charged with items prohibited in correctional and mental health facilities.
Keith Allen Wanserske's bail is set at $5,000
