Vernal, Ut.- On 1/19/22, Vernal City Police assisted Detectives in apprehending a wanted man near 300 W 400 N at an apartment complex where they received several tips about where Sonny David Allen has been staying.

Officers knocked on the door and asked if Sonny was inside the apartment; the female demanded the officers obtain a warrant, slammed the door, and retreated inside the apartment.

According to the affidavit, the officers could hear the woman having a conversation with an adult male. She was telling him that the police were behind her residence. A few minutes later, the woman came outside to see if the officers had left the area. Allen's mother told police that only a two-year-old was inside the apartment and no one else.

While the Detective was waiting for the search warrant, the officers could hear shuffling and grunting from the upstairs apartment directly above Sonny Allen's apartment. The upstairs apartment had recently been in a structure fire and abandoned. All the windows and doors were boarded up. Officers knew Sonny was trying to escape or hide from the officers in the abandoned apartment.

When Allen was found, he was stuck in the floor between the two apartments and wasn't able to free himself and had to be rescued by Firefighters using chainsaws and other tools to free him. While trying to escape, Sonny stripped off his pants and shirt to squeeze through the small hole.

Officers checked Allen's clothes and found a syringe cap with a dark tar-like substance to be heroin and a small zip lock bag with a crystal substance to be methamphetamine.

Sonny Allen was booked into Uintah County Jail for:

Possession of methamphetamine

Possession of heroin

Obstruction of Justice

Active Statewide warrants

So what your saying in this message is way to go VPD and The detectives!! But then asking about charge's like they wasn't doing their jobs when they let me leave the scene after a four hour, in person investigation, with ALL of VPD. and ALL the detectives!!! Think about it!! And if you want my opinion I personally want to thank VPD and the detectives, mostly agent Cannon for doing an amazing job!! You are seriously just a good dude!!
